The Funding Unit at Medway Council offers the following free services to the voluntary and community sectors in Medway:
Pre-application support activity
This is an important part of developing a funding proposal and includes:
- information gathering and dissemination - taking a project brief and identifying funding opportunities;
- exploratory meetings - ascertaining project viability and potential success;
- seeking pre–application advice directly from funders - discussing the project application with funders.
Proposal and bid writing assistance
The Funding Unit is happy to look through applications, bids or letters to funders, offering advice and support, to ensure the application has the strongest possible chance of success.
Project profiling and research
The Funding Unit will undertake specialist searches on behalf of local voluntary and community sector organisations using Grantfinder - a comprehensive database of UK and EU funding initiatives. It comprises around 2,000 individual reports, updated on a monthly basis, providing information on more than 4,500 programmes, covering criteria, eligibility, application procedures and deadlines.
Capacity building and training
The Funding Unit is happy to work with local voluntary and community sector organisations to deliver presentations and workshops on funding opportunities and how to write strong funding proposals.
