Recognising staff of the council who give outstanding service or who have introduced new and improved ways of working
The Excellence and Innovation Scheme is all about celebrating success and showing appreciation to staff who have given outstanding service. It also promotes innovation, encouraging new ideas and new ways of working.
If you know of an individual member of staff or a team that has demonstrated excellence at work or introduced innovative ways of working, you can nominate them for an award under the Excellence and Innovation Scheme.
Nominations can be made by members of the public, councillors or other council staff. If you think someone deserves an award, download this leaflet (pdf 565KB) fill in the form on it and send it off. To use this file, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have this on your computer, please use our advice page. Nominate people if you think they have met the following criteria:
- giving outstanding service, over and above the requirements of their job;
- consistently working to an exceptional standard;
- introducing new and innovative ways of working;
- demonstrating outstanding commitment to the job
and let us know what they did so well.
Once you have nominated someone, the nomination will be put to the council's Management Team and those selected to receive an award will be presented with a framed certificate, a lapel badge and a memento of the scheme by Neil Davies, the Chief Executive. Colleagues and friends will be invited to the presentation.

A nomination can be made at any time and the Management Team will consider nominations on a regular basis.
The Excellence and Innovation Scheme is an opportunity to say thank you to staff who have really put themselves out to provide an outstanding service.
