ReNDoc

The objective of ReNDoc (Regeneration of Naval Dockyard Towns) is to create a partnership network of European naval dockyard towns. Its role is to highlight and exchange good practice in the social and economic restructuring of urban centres, brought about by the decline or withdrawal of a naval presence. ReNDoc also compares approaches to the management of former military sites and buildings and the process of transferring those sites from military to civilian ownership. ReNDoc addresses how particular military buildings can secure new socio-economic uses so as to reintegrate them into the local economy.

ReNDoc currently has six other members alongside Medway:

  • Karlskrona (Sweden)
  • Suomenlinna (Finland)
  • University of Portsmouth (UK)
  • Rochefort (France)
  • San Fernando (Spain)
  • Ferrol (Spain).
