Footpaths

Public footpaths are for pedestrian use only, including wheelchair users and those pushing prams or pushchairs. You may also walk a dog, as long as it is kept on a lead or under close control.

Bicycles are not normally allowed on public footpaths but there are occasions when individual landowners allow cycling on some routes.

Public footpaths are not the same as footways. Footways are paths that are adjacent to roads and are commonly called pavements.
