As a horticultural training centre, Cozenton Nursery equips students with new skills and a qualification during a 13-week training course. The training centre helps unemployed people by promoting horticultural and general life skills. The European Social Fund (www.esf.gov.uk) and Jobcentre Plus (www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk) support the project financially. In addition to the qualification, records of the work done and references are kept on each student.
Further details of the course are also available on this website.
Work experience
The nursery works closely with local companies to provide practical expereince to help students build their skills. Businesses are asked to place students usually for one day per week, for a period of 10 weeks. The students are enthusiastic and eager to learn more.
There is no financial cost to employers. Cozenton Nursery will provide safety boots and whatever other safety equipment is required.
