Making a planning decision

Decisions can either be delegated, which means the planning officer will make the decision without referral to committee or they will be put to the appropriate council committee, accompanied by a report with an officer’s recommendation.

The planning sub-committee may either grant planning permission, with or without conditions, which may include reserved matters, or refuse it. Reasons have to be given for the imposition of conditions or for refusal. These are included on the decision notice that is sent to the applicant after a decision has been made. A record of all decisions is kept on the planning register.
