Bathroom fittings and furniture

Batteries (car)

Can be taken to any of the household waste and recycling centres.

Batteries - All other types (Including NiCd = Nikel-cadmium, NiHM = Nickel metal Hydride and Li-ion = Lithium ion)

Glass bottles can be taken to one of the bring recycling sites (please remove the lids) or any household waste and recycling centres.

Bricks/building rubble

Can be taken to any of the household waste and recycling centres or cut up and put in your brown bin/bags.

Clothing

Garden chemicals

Can be taken to the Cuxton household waste and recycling centre only (please see site staff first).

Garden waste

Can be put in your brown bin/bags, composted at home or taken to any of the household waste and recycling centres.

Gas cylinders

Can be taken to any of the household waste and recycling centres and put in the special containment area.

Glass (sheets)

Can be taken to any of the household waste and recycling centres for disposal in the general rubbish only. Please do not put this type of glass in the bottle and jar banks.

Glass bottles

Can be mixed in your bags or box with your other recycling materials. Do not place a box or bag full of glass out for collection but either mix your glass with other materials to spread the weight or take excess bottles and jars to your local bring recycling sites or household waste and recycling centres (separate containers for clear, green and brown). Flat glass, drinking glasses or Pyrex cannot be recycled but must be placed securely in your refuse bin bags.

Grass cuttings

Can be put in your brown bin/bags, composted at home or taken to any of the household waste and recycling centres.

Greeting cards

Can be put in your blue box or taken to one of the paper banks at the bring recycling sites or any of the household waste and recycling centres.

Please call customer services or email customer.services@medway.gov.uk to find your nearest chemist participating in the council’s diabetic needle exchange scheme.

Jars

Glass jars can be mixed in your bags or box with your other recycling materials. Do not place a box or bag full of glass jars and bottles out for collection but either mix the glass with other materials to spread the weight or take excess bottles and jars to your local bring recycling sites or household waste and recycling centres (separate containers for clear, green and brown).

Junk mail

Can be put in your blue box or taken to one of the bring recycling sites or any of the household waste and recycling centres.

Milk bottles

Please wash plastic bottles thoroughly and they can then be put in your blue box or taken to any household waste and recycling centre. Glass bottles can be returned to your milkman/supplier.
