Drains and gullies

The drainage of streets, roads and paths is the responsibility of the council.

The drain gratings seen in the gutters on the side of the road are called gullies and they take away the rainwater from the road into the drainage system.

These gullies can get blocked with leaves or rubbish that could cause the road to flood. To prevent this they are cleaned out at least once a year. Follow the link above to find out more about gully cleaning.

Other incidences of damaged gratings, manhole covers or smelly gullies can be reported by following the link at the top of the page and using the appropriate online form.
