Adult learning

Medway Adult Learning Service (MALS) is committed to opening up opportunities for learning to adults in Medway's diverse communities, treating every learner with respect, enabling them to achieve their goals as an individual and as a member of their community.

Free food safety courses: Monday, 28 July and Tuesday, 29 July

Do you know how to handle food safely at home or at work? Are you familiar with the principles of safe storage and cleaning, and potential hazards? If not, then you, your family or customers could suffer serious consequences but you can find out more about these issues at a free one-day course in food safety, offered by MALS. The only charge is a £6 registration fee.

The day, which follows the syllabus of the Chartered Institute of Environment Health (CIEH), is varied and involves the use of videos and class discussion, as well as instruction and observation.

The last part of the course takes the form of a multiple-choice question paper and anyone gaining an appropriate mark will be awarded the CIEH certificate. For people working in the catering industry it is recommended that this course is retaken at least every three years.

Please note: these are two extra courses, arranged to meet demand. To book a place, please use the contact details at the foot of the page.
