  • science
  • design and technology
  • information and communication technology
  • history
  • geography
  • modern foreign languages
  • art and design
  • music

  • religious education
  • citizenship.

At the end of Key Stage 3, national tests are carried out for all 14 year-olds, covering the core areas of:

The results of Key Stage 3 tests are measured against national targets, which aim to show the level of  knowledge and ability each pupil should reach at the age of 14 years. These tests are designed to build upon the achievements pupils made at Key Stage 2.

Further information about the Key Stage 3 targets and testing can be found on the Directgov website (www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/Schoolslearninganddevelopment/ExamsTestsAndTheCurriculum/DG_10013041).
