Admissions

Admission to schools 2009

The arrangements for admission to primary and secondary schools in Medway in September 2009 are now available. Please use the links above to find out more.

Online admission

Parents or guardians can now apply for school places online. The online forms will be available at specific times of the year, depending on the type of school (i.e. primary or secondary).

Parents or guardians often face a difficult decision when choosing a school for their child. They need to consider a number of factors, including how close the school is to home, its location, the size or the values and beliefs of the school.

Parents or guardians can visit schools by contacting them for an appointment and get further information from the school to help with this decision, for example:

  • the school prospectus, which will have detailed information on the school and its performance;
  • the Governors' Annual Report to parents, which details the school's progress and changes within the school over the last year;
  • the school website, which will give a variety of information on the school;
  • school performance information, which is available within the performance tables compiled by the council.

Schools are inspected regularly by school inspectors from the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted). Details of the most recent inspection for the school can be obtained from the school or by using the Ofsted website (www.ofsted.gov.uk).
