Medway Children and Young People's Strategic Partnership

This Partnership is one of 10 lead partnerships within the Medway Local Strategic Partnership and is structured to deliver the roles and responsibilities contained in the Every Child Matters guidance from the government.

Structure of the Medway Children and Young People's Strategic Partnership (CYPSP)

The purpose of the Medway Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership is to champion the well-being of all children and young people in Medway.

The Executive Board will do this through:

  • taking the lead strategic role in co-ordinating and overseeing the integration of all services delivered to children and young people in Medway;
  • promoting the involvement of children and young people in shaping the services they receive;
  • overseeing and promoting the joint planning and provision of services to children and young people in Medway;
  • supporting all partners in providing coherent and effective services;
  • acting as the Medway Local Strategic Partnership’s lead partnership on children and young people;

Medway Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership Forum will do this through:

  • promoting the integration of all services delivered to children and young people in Medway;
  • promoting the joint planning and provision of services to children and young people in Medway;
  • promoting the involvement of children and young people in shaping the services they receive;
  • supporting all partners in providing coherent and effective services;
  • providing a constructive and positive challenge to the CYPSP Executive Board.

Membership of the Medway Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership Executive Board

  • Director of Children and Adults, Medway Council (who is also a member of the Safeguarding Board)
  • Director of Medway Primary Care Trust
  • Area Commander Kent Police (who is also the representative on the Community Safety Partnership)
  • Chief Executive Medway Maritime Trust
  • Chair of the Local Children Safeguarding Board
  • Two young people
  • Representative Race Equality Council/Ethnic Minority Forum
  • Community and Voluntary Sector Infrastructure Group
  • Community and Voluntary Sector provider group
  • Medway Council's Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services
  • Representative of the Learning Partnership, and 14-19 Strategy Providers Partnership
  • Medway Local Strategic Partnership Co-ordinator, Observer.
