What is it?

Woodies Youth Centre provides a wide selection of activities for young people aged eight years or more. They can have fun and develop new skills in a place they feel welcome. Experienced and professional youth workers from a range of backgrounds offer information, support and advice on a range of issues.

What it does

By coming to the centre, young people can access a variety of information relevant to their personal interests and needs. The Centre offers an assorted programme of activities like:

  • general arts and crafts,
  • sports,
  • Playstation and X-Box sessions,
  • access to DVDs, music, games and the internet.

The friendly and qualified youth and play workers are on hand to provide extra help and advice. Young people also have the opportunity to talk to various Connexions workers.

How it works

There are some rules and policies that people need to follow to ensure that everyone who comes to the centre enjoys the experience and gets the best from it.

You can download a copy of the Woodies Youth Centre leaflet (pdf, 388KB), which contains all of the information on this page. To use this file you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have this on your computer, please use our advice page.

Equal opportunities

Medway Council has an equal opportunities policy. This means it aims to make its services available to everybody. You can help the council by respecting the needs and differences of all the other people who use the Centre.

Unacceptable behaviour

Persistent unacceptable behaviour can do many things. It can upset, offend or spoil it for others. It can even put others in danger. Therefore, the Centre has a policy to help control unacceptable behaviour and can suspend members from the Centre. Young people are asked to complete a membership record and will need to sign and conform to the code of conduct for the Centre. Information taken is strictly confidential and will not be used outside the Centre. It includes personal information like gender, ethnicity, name and contact details. For more details about the policies please ask staff at the Centre.
