What is it?
Medway Youth Station offers many exciting activities. Part of it has been turned into an area from where music and video workshops can be run. There is also an IT suite where young people can surf the internet.
The professional youth workers offer information, support and advice on a range of issues. Young people can visit the Youth Station and get an abundance of information relevant to their personal interests and needs.
What it does
|
Information and advice is available on any issue that may affect a young person’s life, in leaflets or over the phone. If Youth Station staff don't have what you're looking for, they can usually direct you towards someone who can help. Counselling This is a free service for young people aged 10 to 25 years in Medway. The young person must contact the Youth Station directly and ask for counselling, as there are no referrals. Cyber café The café is free for young people and offers unlimited access to the internet. Young People’s Events Team The team runs events for young people in Medway and is always looking for new recruits to join them. Events include the annual Star 4 Medway singing competition (www.myspace.com/STAR4MEDWAY). Recording studio This is a small facility where young people can record their own songs and produce them on CD for little or no cost.
|
Video studio Young people can make videos and edit them using the digital editing suite and digital video cameras.
Music and video workshops Workshops help young people learn more about the recording and video studios, learning how to use the equipment. Just call to arrange a session in either studio.
How it works
There are rules and policies that people need to follow to ensure that everyone who comes to the Youth Station enjoys the experience and gets the best from it.

Find out about the Youth Station's activities You can download a copy of the Medway Youth Station leaflet (pdf 532KB), which contains all of the information on this page. To use this file you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have this on your computer, please use our advice page. Equal opportunities Medway Council has an equal opportunities policy. This means that it aims to make its services available to everybody. You can help the council by respecting the needs and differences of all the other people who use the Youth Station.

Unacceptable behaviour Persistent unacceptable behaviour can upset, offend or spoil what should be a fun and informative experience. It can even put others in danger. With this in mind, the Youth Station has a policy regarding unacceptable behaviour and can suspend members for breaching the code of conduct, which they are asked to sign and conform to when they fill out their membership record. Personal information, such as gender, ethnicity, name and contact details, will be taken in the strictest confidence and will not be used outside the Youth Station. For more details about the policies, please ask Youth Station staff.
