Getting started at the library

Membership of the library is free. Once your have a membership number, it will allow you to access a range of information and entertainment at the library and online.

You do not need to bring any identification with you to join immediately as a light customer, which allows you to take out up to three items. If you want to use the full range of services, however, you will need to bring in some identification, such as a utility bill or driving licence. If you are under 16 years old, your parent or guardian will need to provide proof of your identity.

With full membership, you can borrow up to 30 items from the library, selecting from:

  • books;
  • CDs;
  • spoken word cassettes;
  • DVDs;
  • console games.

When it is time to bring them back, you can return them to any Medway library or renew them online using a personal identification number (PIN). Ask at your local library or email using the address below to find out how to get a PIN.

If you are a resident of Medway, you can also use the Drill Hall Library (http://campus.medway.ac.uk/library/index.php) at the Universities for Medway. Email to find out how, using the address below.
