Early years

Baby bounce and rhyme Parents and carers can enjoy knee bouncing, finger rhymes and nursery rhymes with babies up to 18 months old.

Storytime These free sessions include a wide range of stories and rhymes to inspire children to engage with books. Some libraries offer a craft activity too.

Pop in and play at Rochester library Sessions take place every Saturday, from 10.30 to 11am, and are suitable for children up to eight years old. This is an informal drop in chance to meet with friends and families for chat and play within the library.

Toddler shake and boogie This energetic and fun-packed activity session offers rhymes, songs and movement for pre-schoolers. Musical instruments, scarves and parachutes are often included.

Early years professionals Medway Libraries offers a range of services for children's centres, pre-schools, toddler groups, health centres and all other early years settings.

Bookstart in Medway Bookstart is a national programme working through locally-based organisations to give free packs of books to babies, toddlers and pre-school children with guidance materials for parents and carers.

Saturday sing-a-long at Strood library A range of songs and actions for you to enjoy with your baby or toddler. This event gives an opportunity for Dads and mums who work during the week a chance to attend our popular early years activities with their children.

Would you like to bring your class to the library for a visit? We offer engaging and participatory storytelling, stimulating poetry, bookmaking and library skills sessions.

Local area resources at Medway Archives and Local Studies Centre MALSC can assist with local studies for students of all ages. With sufficient notice we can offer visits, online interactive learning and study packs. We also offer training for teachers. Children's mobile library The children's mobile library visits 19 schools during term time. The mobile library may be available for weekend or school holiday events.

After school activities

Homework help Get accurate up-to-date electronic information and professional help for all your homework enquiries. Medway Libraries also runs homework clubs where friendly and knowledgeable staff will be on hand to help with all your homework questions.

Level-up Test your console gaming skills against others on the big screen at Strood library. Level 1 is for eight to 12-year-olds, and meets fortnightly on alternate Mondays between 4.30 and 5.30pm. Level 2 is for 13 to 16-year-olds, and meets on alternate Mondays between 5.45 and 6.45pm. Contact the library on 01634 335890 for date of next meeting.

Craft club at Grain library Get crafty at Grain library every Saturday between 10.30 and 12noon. This club is suitable for children and young people aged five to 11 years old.
