Customers' own

Every so often, somebody comes to the Medway Library Service with a book that they have published themselves. Usually it is very difficult to put it on the shelves, because it is in the wrong format or too expensive to process for people to borrow. However, these books can be made available on the library web pages, in pdf format, making them accessible to all library users, because use of the internet is free in Medway libraries.

Please note that copyright remains in the possession of the author of each work. If you want to use the work in any way or want to contact the author, please contact the Library Service and it will pass on your details. To read the books, stories and poems follow the links at the top of this page.

Website submissions

If you would like to have something published on these pages, please make contact using the details below. If the work is suitable, we will ask you to fill in and sign the Customers' Own agreement form (pdf 81KB).

What other help can the library offer local writers?

  • Books on how to write and the creative process are available in our branches and can be reserved online using the library catalogue.
  • Online access to useful publications, such as the Writers and Artists Yearbook, are available to library members on the library list of online resources. For the Writers Yearbook, look under KnowUK.
  • The Library Service holds details of local writing groups on its list of local clubs and organisations, called MOLE. If you run a local writing group, it may be possible to meet in a library. For more details, use the contact details below.
  • Some useful webpages about creative writing nationally and locally can be found on the library links webpage.
  • Libraries host author events in a variety of locations.
