Up to 300 children from 37 Medway Primary Schools took part in the Medway Messenger Mini Youth Games Athletics event at Deangate Ridge Athletics Track on Wednesday, 4 July 2007. The placings were decided on a league table basis, including the Fair Play award. After many close races and closely-contested field events the following overall school positions were reached: - First place, Fairview Community School
- Second place, St Mary's RC Primary School
- Third place, Balfour Junior School
- Best placed small school, Allhallows Primary School

The Sports Development Team were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Medway Councillor Val Goulden to present the certificates and medals.
The most prestigious award of the day, the Fair Play prize, went to Hilltop Primary School for their teamwork and good sportsmanship. The school received a bag of new athletics equipment.

The day would not have been possible without the tremendous support from Medway and Maidstone Athletics club and the numerous volunteers who gave their time to help and support the event, including students from the volunteer programme, Bradfields school, The Howard School and Greenacre School Sport Partnership.
