Medway Sports Awards

Recognising and celebrating sporting successes

The Medway Sports Awards are a major celebration of sport covering the whole of Medway's sporting community.

The awards highlight the achievements and dedication of Medway athletes, coaches, clubs, teams and schools.They are supported by the University of Kent, the Medway Messenger (www.kentonline.co.uk/medway_messenger/news.aspx), with additional support from Greenacre School Sport Partnership, Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre and a number of other sponsors.

The awards cover these 12 categories:

  • Sportsperson of the Year;
  • Junior Sportsperson of the Year;
  • Lifetime Contribution;
  • Coach of the Year;
  • Club of the Year;
  • Team of the Year;
  • Junior Club of the Year;
  • Junior Team of the Year;
  • Teacher of the Year;
  • Secondary School of the Year;
  • Primary School of the Year;
  • Unsung Hero.

The 2009 Medway Sports Awards

Minority sports were the big winners at the 2009 Medway Sports Awards.

On an evening featuring Medway Sporting Ambassador Steve Backley, Gillingham FC's Simon King and emerging Medway boxing talent Tom Dallas, it was korfball, double mini trampoline and water skiing that took centre stage.

2010 Awards

The 2010 awards will be launched in the spring.
