Platters Farm Lodge is a purpose-built residential home and day centre set in spacious, well-maintained grounds. It was opened in February 1986 and is situated within reasonable travelling distance of Rainham railway station, Rainham High Street, and the popular Hempstead Valley shopping complex.
The centre is part of a wider intermediate care service jointly run by Medway Council and Medway Primary Care Trust. Both organisations are committed to supporting people - delivering the right care and support - so that they can live in their own homes for as long as possible.
Short-stay facilities
The residential centre has 43 short stay beds as follows:
- 16 beds in the Rehabilitation Centre
- 27 short stay/respite care beds
There are no permanent beds in this home.
The rehabilitation centre provides structured programmes, which aim to help people who have experienced ill health, disability, accidents, or lost the confidence to lead independent lives. A multi-disciplinary team delivers this fully integrated care.
The short-term facility gives carers a break, and can be used for temporary difficulties, for example, when recovering from illness.
Day care facilities
Platters Farm Lodge also provides 30 places per day for those attending on a daily basis only. These facilities are available for use every day except Tuesday.
