up arrow : go up one level Who can adopt?
When adoption is not a good idea

It is not a good idea to consider adoption at times when you are coping with stressful situations in other areas of your life, for example if:

  • you are planning major changes, such as moving house or job,
  • you are currently undergoing infertility treatment,
  • you are experiencing serious financial difficulties,
  • you have suffered bereavement within your family in the past year, such as death of a spouse or child,
  • you have recently separated from your partner.
