The Youth Inclusion and Support Panel (YISP) is a growing initiative that makes it easier for young people to access services that can help stop them getting into trouble. The panel aims to prevent offending and reduce anti-social behaviour by offering voluntary support services to eight to 13 year-olds and their families.
The YISP ensures that children and their families receive, at the earliest opportunity, mainstream public services and complementary interventions from voluntary and community groups that are appropriate to their needs. Through Individual Support Plans, young people and their families can access support such as:
- holiday and leisure activities;
- mentoring and counselling;
- youth projects;
- health advice;
- school support;
- parenting programmes.
Launched in October 2005, the YISP is currently supporting young people and their families in these council wards:
- River,
- Gillingham North,
- Gillingham South,
- Chatham Central,
- Luton and Wayfield,
- Walderslade,
- Princes Park,
- Lordswood and Capstone,
- Strood South,
- Strood North,
- Rochester East,
- Rochester West,
- Rochester South.
Children’s Fund Medway and the Youth Justice Board Prevention Grant fund the YISP Project.
