This is a government scheme to help young parents aged between 13 and 19 years to return to education or training.

Young parents can access this service by visiting www.direct.gov.uk/en/EducationAndLearning/14To19/MoneyToLearn/Caretolearn/index.htm or through a Connexions personal advisor, who can also help with this process.

Care To Learn gives young parents the opportunity to select the childcare of their choice, as long as it provided by a registered childminder or registered nursery.

The scheme will pay up to £160 per week per child and can also cover the travel costs to the childcare placement. Young parents are able to continue to use this service as long as they begin training or education before they are 19 years old.

This is an excellent opportunity for young parents whose education may have been affected by becoming pregnant during school time. Many young parents have used this service and have reached their full potential.
