Vehicle seized during fly-tipping investigation

19 July 2017

A vehicle suspected of being involved in fly-tipping incidents has been seized by Medway Council.

On Sunday, 2 July, officers from the Environmental Enforcement Team responded to information they received and seized a tipper truck from an address in Chatham using powers under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

A man has been interviewed by enforcement officers in connection with the seizure, and investigations are ongoing.

Cllr Jane Chitty, Portfolio Holder covering Enforcement at Medway Council, said: “Fly-tipping is unsightly and costs the council thousands of pounds each year to clear. I would encourage residents to report incidents so the council can arrange to get the waste cleared as quickly as possible. They also investigate each incident and will prosecute anyone found to be dumping waste in Medway.”
