Pupils congratulated on their GCSE results

25 August 2017

In a joint statement following GCSE results day on Thursday, 24 August, Cllr Andrew Mackness, Portfolio Holder for Children's Services and Cllr Martin Potter, Portfolio Holder covering Educational Attainment and Improvement at Medway Council, said:

"Approximately 3,000 Medway children have now received their GCSE results. Early indications are promising and show how hard Medway pupils have worked to achieve good results in a tougher examination regime. Initial findings suggest more than 60 per cent of young people in Medway have reached the standard pass in English and maths, despite a drop nationally in the number of pupils achieving this. This year's achievements are down to the determination of pupils and the professionalism of the teaching staff; well done to everyone involved.

“We’d like to wish everyone the best of luck in their chosen pathway, whether they’re continuing their studies within Medway colleges and sixth forms or starting an apprenticeship."
