Council staff to remember former colleagues

Date: 18/04/2008           Category: Human Resources

A service will take place in Rochester this month to remember loved ones who have died at work. Medway Council staff and UNISON members will have the chance to remember their former colleagues on Monday, 28 April at Rochester Castle Gardens. The service starts at 12noon and is part of this year’s Workers’ Memorial Day. Council Ranger Bob Wade will tell the story of the Memorial Tree, which was planted 10 years ago. There will also be a display of 240 empty boots representing the number of deaths each year from work-related accidents. Purple ribbons are available to anyone who wants to remember a colleague by tying it on the tree. All are invited to a buffet afterwards at The Princes Hall, Corn Exchange. Please contact June Gutsell on 01634 331740 or email june.gutsell@medway.gov.uk to reserve your space. Please email the Chaplain David Helms for more details about the event on david.helms@medway.gov.uk
