Medway’s businesses are preparing to resume battle this week in round three of the 2008 Medway Business Games. Fourteen teams will be competing against each other on Friday afternoon, vying for all-important points in their organisation’s quest to be crowned Medway’s top sporting business. They include current league leaders Kent Reliance Building Society, and HSBC and mhs Homes, who are hot on their heels. The tournament takes place at the Howard Table Tennis Centre in Derwent Way, Rainham, one of five Medway facilities approved as a pre-Games training camp venue for teams preparing for the 2012 Olympic Games. The media are invited to send photographers/film crews to Friday’s tournament from 2pm to 5.30pm. England junior squad member and Medway elite table tennis player Harry Lumb, 13, will be making the presentations at the end of the competition. The Medway Business Games are organised by Medway Council’s 2012 and Sports Development teams and form part of the Medway Games programme offering the whole community the chance to get involved in organised, competitive sport. Table tennis is the third of five sports making up the 2008 Medway Business Games. Friday’s tournament will be followed by a golf tournament on Friday, 30 May and a netball tournament on Friday, 27 June.
