Being a parent can be tough enough, especially when you’re a teenager. On Friday, 2 May, young parents are invited to the opening of a new parents’ group at the All Saints Sure Start Children’s Centre. From 1pm to 2.30pm team members from the centre in Magpie Hall Road, Chatham, will launch the Young Parents’ Group to offer mums and dads the opportunity to learn about the importance of playing with their child, how to access parenting support and join the C-card scheme, an initiative to provide young people with condoms in a non-health setting Agencies including Connexions; Parentis; the Sexual Health team; Jobcentre Plus; 4Life; Step 4ward and the centre’s self esteem group Topaz will all be at the event. Free beauty treatments will be on offer, and a parent volunteer will be taking photographs of the children for the parents. Guests will be able to have a handprint or footprint of their child to keep as a memento. The parents can also take part in a free raffle with prizes to include a free lunch in the centre’s Boardroom Café and free membership to the centre’s Toy Library. This is a fabulous networking opportunity for young parents to make new friends and to share parenting experiences. Many young parent agencies are supporting the launch so why not come along and see what’s on for you and your family. If you have any questions about this event please contact the centre on 01634 338833.
