A cardiac nurse from Medway Primary Care Trust’s was a winner at the Cardiac Nursing Awards held at London’s Café Royal. Medway PCT's British Heart Foundation Nurse Consultant Mary Kirk and her team won the innovation through education and research category. More than 150 people attended the ceremony; the Medway team was presented with the awards by Prof. David Thompson who is nationally recognised for his work in the field of cardiac rehabilitation research. Mary said: “We were honoured to receive the award and wish to acknowledge the support we received from the British Heart Foundation training department, Dr Susie Wilkinson, national lead in advanced communications and a local patient called Tony, who has helped in the filming of the training video we produced.” The annual Cardiac Nursing Awards recognise excellence nationally and internationally of cardiac nurses.
