The Mayor of Medway is Cllr Val Goulden. The Mayor’s escort is her husband, Cllr Tony Goulden. The Deputy Mayor of Medway is Cllr Nick Bowler, and the Deputy Mayoress is Ann Brochoven. Diary events after Thursday, 8 May will refer to the new Mayor (Cllr David Carr) and Deputy Mayor (Cllr Ted Baker). The diary item involves the mayor and escort unless otherwise stated. Friday, 2 May 7.30pm – Mayor of Medway’s Charity Concert, Corn Exchange, Rochester. Saturday, 3 May 10am – Opening ceremony for Sweeps Festival, Guildhall Museum, Rochester. 7pm – 25th anniversary of partnership between churches in Rochester and in Germany, King’s School Hall, The Precinct, Rochester. Sunday, 4 May 1.55pm – Help for Heroes football match, Priestfield Stadium, Gillingham. Monday, 5 May 2pm – Closing of the Sweeps Festival, Rochester. 6pm – Mayor of Ramsgate’s cocktail party Tuesday, 6 May 7.35pm – Visit to 1404 Chatham Air Cadets, Boundary Road, Chatham. Wednesday, 7 May 10am – Cheque presentations to Mayor’s charities in the Mayor’s Parlour, Municipal Buildings, Gillingham. 3pm – Mini Youth Games (tennis) at Rainham Girls netball pavilion. 6.30pm – Annual Council Meeting and Mayor Making Ceremony at the Corn Exchange, Rochester. Mayor and Deputy Mayor will both be attending. Thursday, 8 May 10am – Official photo shoot for the new Mayor, Guildhall Museum, Rochester. Friday, 9 May 7pm – Mayor of Margate spring supper and dance. The Deputy Mayor will attend. 7.30pm – Medway Rugby Football Club 77th Annual Dinner, Rugby Club, Priestfields, Rochester. Saturday, 10 May 10.45am – Opening of the Medway Garden Festival, Cozenton Nursery, Rainham. 11.15am – Canterbury Christ Church University Graduation, Rochester Cathedral then at the Corn Exchange. 1pm – St John’s School Historical Society book and DVD launch, Chatham Dockyard. Sunday, 11 May 2.30pm – Medway Stage Festival at The Brook Theatre, Chatham.
