Cajun dance night at The Brook Theatre

Date: 07/05/2008           Category: Arts and Libraries

Folk at The Brook presents a Cajun Dance Night, with Jumbo Gumbo, at The Brook Theatre, Chatham on Thursday, 15 May, 8pm. Jumbo Gumbo are Kent's newest and arguably finest purveyors of Zydeco music, or as the band put it - Louisiana-get-up-and-dance-good-time-party-music. Featuring accordian king and vocalist Kevin Henty, the five-piece plays the most modern form of creole music with controlled abandon. Original zydeco musicians drew on low-down blues influences, although contemporary performers incorporate increasingly diverse musical styles, including pop, soul and reggae. Expect loud shirts and the urge to dance those dancing feet. Tickets are £8, folk mailing list members £7. To book call box office on 01634 338338, email boxoffice@medway.gov.uk or visit www.medway.gov.uk/theatres.
