Date: 14/05/2008           Category: Community Safety

Medway Council’s Safer Communities Team takes to the road next week to highlight its work. The team’s mobile unit will be at the Dockside Factory Outlet Centre car park on Monday, 19 May from 2pm to 4pm to highlight their work. Portfolio Holder for Community Safety Cllr Rehman Chishti will also be answering residents’ questions. Residents can get information on trading standards, safer shopping, environmental health, how to get offensive graffiti removed, littering, smoke free, illegal street trading and emergency planning. Portfolio Holder for Community Safety and Enforcement Cllr Rehman Chishti said: “We are very proud to be working with Dockside Factory Outlet Centre to deliver this initiative. “We will be using the afternoon to reach out to local consumers to hear what their experiences of Medway’s businesses are, as well as promoting the broad range of services that our Safer Communities Team provides.” Dockside shopping centre has recently been inducted to Medways Fair Trader Scheme, which helps shoppers in the area to buy with confidence that their rights are being upheld.
