TV talent star Keisha (from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s I’d do anything) and newsreader Rob Smith will be among guests at an award ceremony to thank volunteers on Sunday (1 June). The presentations start at 7.30pm at The Brook Theatre and awards up for grabs include volunteer team, young volunteer and adult volunteer of the year. Throughout the day from 12noon to 4.30pm visitors will be able to find out about volunteering and how they can get involved, and watch performances from a variety of groups including Memory Makers, Urban Steps, Kala Kendra, Kent Malayalee and belly dancers. Guests will also have chance to take part in a number of workshops including poetry, life saving techniques, sign-a-long and British sign language. Medway Cyrenians will be performing a drama about homelessness and a poet from Rainham Poetry Group will be reciting some poems during the evening awards.
