Dickens festival competition

Medway’s primary schools have been busy putting pen to paper to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Dickens Festival. Eight schools took part in a writing competition, which set them the challenge of writing about Charles Dickens Each school submitted ten entries, all of which were displayed in Rochester Library during the Dickens festival. To congratulate and reward the winners, a presentation ceremony was held at the Corn Exchange. All children taking part received a medal, and the winning school received a cheque for £100 towards their English department. The Winner of the competition was Megan Mackintosh from Chattenden Primary School and the runner up prize was Chloe Potts from St. Mary's Catholic Primary School Medway Council’s Events Team would like to thank Janet Peters (Lady in waiting) and Brenda Gillian-Hill (Queen Victoria) for judging the competition and Rochester Library for displaying the entries during the festival period.
