Let’s get ready to rumble

Date: 24/06/2008           Category: Leisure

Giants of the wrestling world will be superslamming into the Central Theatre, Chatham on Sunday, 29 June. For the first time ever, fans of American Superslam Wrestling can witness a live performance. Top stars from the WWE and other leading stateside federations will challenge the very best of British wrestling talent. ASW aim to prove there is nothing to beat the supercharged atmosphere of a live presentation and, to add even more of a competitive edge, the Chatham line-up will have a USA versus Great Britain theme. Leading the Statesiders will be towering ‘American Disaster’ Broady Steele, the 6ft 10in tall globetrotter who last year became the first overseas campaigner to win the Superslam British heavyweight title and has now returned to mount another championship offensive. The uncompromising Steele will be backed by the fiercely competitive Chad Collyer, a much-travelled star from Indiana who has a very individual interpretation of British rules! Also involved will be the high flying ‘American Dragon’ Bryan Danielson, the ever controversial and always outspoken ‘Brooklyn Brawler’ Julio Torres and the uncompromising ‘Barbarian’ Karl Kramer. At the other end of the scale the home squad, headed by former British titleholder James Mason, includes crowd pleaser Little Legs. The 3ft 6in tall mini-whirlwind from Oxford, first made his mark as tag partner of the fearless Flatliner, and looks certain to be a source of more than a little irritation to far bigger rivals. South Londoner Mason will also be looking for support from others including all action Midlander Kid Cool, Cheshire ace 'Xtreme' Dean Allmark and ‘Liverpool Lads’ Frankie Sloan and reigning Superslam title holder Robbie Brookside. Professional wrestling combines sports entertainment with the glitz and glamour of a theatrical performance. Solo and tag team bouts, over-the-top rumbles and acrobatics from the kings of the canvas provide an unforgettable spectacle for the whole family. The performance begins at 3pm, Sunday, 29 June 2008. Tickets priced at £10, £12 and £35 for a family of four (minimum of two children) are available from The Central Theatre, 170 High Street, Chatham ME4 4AS.
