A day of dance workshops and showcases will take place at The Brook Theatre in Chatham on Thursday, 10 July, from 10am. As part of the UK-wide Big Dance, the event is a chance to get active, experience the joys of dancing and sample different styles. Participants will be able to have a go at Street Dance, Belly Dance, Break Dance, Latin and the beautiful Brazilian dance Capoeira. There will also be a showcase of dance created in Medway, starting at 6pm and presented by Loop Dance Company. This will feature a variety of community groups, including young people from Loop's education projects, break-dance crew the Foot Soldiers, Rochester based Buckingham Academy of Dance, and Product and Senzala Capoeira School featuring professional dancer William Thorburn. Loop Dance Company will also run an open class for professional dancers from 11am. Tickets for all the workshops cost £2 each, and tickets for the showcase performance cost £6 with concessions available. To book and check workshop times please call 01634 338338.
