Date: 10/07/2008           Category: Arts and Libraries

Whatever the weather does during the summer holidays, there’s a range of fun activities for young people on offer from Medway Council’s Arts Development Team. Heatwave is a series of workshops for under 18s, taking place from Monday 28 July to Friday 22 August, at The Brook Theatre in Chatham, Woodlands Community Arts Centre, Chatham Library and Capstone Farm Country Park. Activities include a five-day drama workshop entitled Life Under the Bed – a chance to work with professional actors from Play on Words Theatre company to devise a fantastical piece of theatre with improvisation and song. Keen dancers can become a cheerleader for the day, or learn funky routines to the biggest summer chart hits. Other activities developing vocal technique and song writing skills, drama workshops based on High School Musical and the hit west end show Wicked, kite making, t-shirt designing and a five day music project exploring music and dance from around the world.
