Young golfers showed off their backswing at the Snodhurst Bottom Pitch and Putt Under-14 golf competition. 12-year-old Shaun Maklin, of Walderslade Road, Chatham, won the competition with an impressive round of 65. Ryland Smith (12) was runner-up. The competitors played all 18 holes at the demanding course, which is run by Medway Council. Senior Ranger Bob Wade said: "The course is in excellent condition and Shaun would give many of our regular golfers a run for thier money. I was pleased to be able to devote a day to young golfers and this competition gives us an opportunity to teach good etiquette to young players." Freddie Allen (11) won the 11 and under category with 88 with Tom Young declared runner-up. The course is off Walderslade Road at the bottom of the valley, next to Fitness First.
