A day of opportunity at Medway’s Theatres

Date: 07/08/2008           Category: Arts and Libraries

If you’ve got the X Factor there’s no excuse for hiding your talents this autumn, as Medway’s Central and Brook Theatres are both holding auditions for talented young performers. Open auditions will take place on Sunday, 21 September at The Central Theatre in Chatham for dancers to take part in this year’s pantomime, Cinderella, alongside former EastEnders actor Joe Swash. The producers, Evolution Productions, are looking for boys and girls aged between 8 and 16-years-old to perform in teams on selected performances. If successful you must be available from 1 December until 4 January. Registration is at 10.30am and the auditions start at 11am. For further information call the box office on 01634 338338. At the Brook Theatre, young people interested in drama and acting have an opportunity to take part in Trading Tales, a nine-week project leading to a series of spooky plays to be performed at various locations in Rochester. Medway based Play on Words Theatre Company will be working with talented young actors aged between 12 and 18-years-old to create a play inspired by the atmospheric surroundings at Eastgate House, The Guildhall Museum and Rochester Castle Gardens. The performances will take audiences from one location to another, introducing them to characters from history on the way. The Trading Tales Project is free of charge – but you need to be enthusiastic and available for weekly rehearsals. Auditions for Trading Tales will take place on Sunday, 21 September at The Brook Theatre from 10.30am. For more information and to register your place please call the Arts Development Team on 01634 338319 or email arts@medway.gov.uk ENDS Editors/Photographers: Both auditions are likely to last until early afternoon, so please feel to move between the two theatres.
