Medway’s growing importance in the sailing industry has led a Suffolk business to choose the area for its second premises. Precision Navigation, a supplier and installer of marine electronic equipment electrics and on-board equipment for yachts and powerboats, has opened up on the Medway City Estate. The company, which specialises in servicing and advice for boat owners, was looking to expand and saw Medway as a prime location with its access to surrounding waterways and good transport links. The company received Partners for Growth funding from Medway Council to help with set up costs. Director John Hatfield said: “At various boat shows Medway had been mentioned to us as an area which was up and coming. “It has a unique location because it services not only the River Medway but the Thames plus the Swale and there’s access to the sea. It also has good transport links on route to Dover, Ramsgate and Faversham.” Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth and Strategic Development Cllr Jane Chitty said: “Precision Navigation has identified and filled a market locally and complement a number of businesses already in the area. I wish them every success.” Picture caption: Precision Navigation’s John Hatfield and Kelly Gomm in the new showroom on the Medway City Estate.
