Medway’s theatres announce autumn line-up

Summer may be over, but there’s no reason to stay in with the TV this autumn, as The Central and Brook Theatres have announced a great line-up of entertainment with something for everyone. Top names in music ready to take the stage are 80s superstar Billy Ocean, Joe Brown and The Bruvvers, the OperaBabes and Toyah Wilcox, starring in the smash-hit musical Vampires Rock. Direct from Russia, the Don Cossacks State Dance Company will leap into action with their stunning skills, European Ballet will present The Sleeping Beauty, and the world-renowned City of London Sinfonia returns to begin a season of three concerts, with exclusive offers for subscribers There’s also a brand new season of quality touring drama, with free “talkback” sessions offering customers the chance to meet the people behind the plays after the performance. This seasons plays are Humble Boy, Oh, What a Lovely War and Elsie and Norm’s Macbeth. Children’s favourite Barney makes a stop at the venue for three performances of the Let’s Go Live Tour, Basil Brush present’s High Skool Mania and Joe Pasquale returns with his hugely popular stage show. The year rounds off with North Kent’s premiere pantomime Cinderella, starring Joe Swash, alias Mickey Miller from EastEnders. Meanwhile the Brook Theatre presents a packed season of jazz, folk and community events as well as the popular Medway Comedy Club, happening on the first Monday of most months. This year’s Christmas production, offering families an alternative to pantomime, is a stunning musical adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic Treasure Island, suitable for children aged five and over.
