Media invite: Schools hit the mark for quality and inclusivity

Seventeen Medway schools will be presented with an award to recognise the progress they have made towards creating inclusive and harmonious places to learn. Medway Council’s Director of Children and Adults Rose Collinson will present eight schools with the Medway Inclusive School Quality Mark award during a ceremony at Abbey Court School in Rainham on Friday, 19 September. Sue Nicholson, Director for the Alliance for Lifelong Learning Quality Mark Programme, will present another nine schools with award for achieving with the Primary and Secondary Quality Mark during the same ceremony. The Medway Inclusive School Quality Mark was launched in October 2002 to recognise and celebrate the progress of schools towards inclusion based on the statutory National Curriculum Inclusion Statement published in 2001. The Primary and Secondary Quality Marks are national accreditations that acknowledge the effort schools put in to raise achievement and attainment in literacy and maths, working closely with parents and carers. The following schools will be presented with the Medway Inclusive School Quality Mark award: New award: Elaine Primary School, Elaine Avenue, Strood. New Road School, Bryant Street, Chatham. St. Margaret’s CE Voluntary Controlled Junior School, Orchard Street, Rainham. St Nicholas’ CE Voluntary Controlled Infant School, London Road, Strood. Warren Wood Community Primary School and Language Unit, Arethusa Road, Rochester. Renewals: Luton Junior School, Luton Road, Chatham. St. Peter’s Infant School, Holcome Road, Rochester. Chatham South School, Letchworth Avenue, Chatham. The following schools will receive renewals of the Primary and Secondary Quality Marks Renewal for the first time Thames View Junior School, Bloors Lane, Rainham. Balfour Infant, Pattens Lane, Rochester. Saxon Way Primary School, Ingram Road, Gillingham. Renewal for the second time Lordswood Infants, Lordswood Lane, Chatham. Danecourt Community Special School, Hotel Road, Watling Street, Gillingham. Delce Juniors, The Tideway, Rochester. Woodlands Primary School, Woodlands Road, Gillingham. Barnsole Infants School, Sturdee Avenue, Gillingham. Thames View Infants, Bloors Lane, Rainham. Renewal for the third time Abbey Court School.
