Theatre opens new drama season with a buzz

Date: 15/09/2008           Category: Arts and Libraries

The Central Theatre’s new drama season opens with an award-winning comedy play, Humble Boy, from Thursday, 9 to Saturday, 11 October. The play is produced by London Classic Theatre, who delighted audiences with Abigail’s Party at the Chatham venue in 2007. This new production follows the story of 35-year-old Felix Humble, a Cambridge academic who, following the sudden death of his father, returns to his middle England home and his demanding mother. After the chaotic funeral and the disappearance of his father’s prized bees, it becomes clear that the Humble home will never be the same again. Past and present collide with love and uncertainty in this original and captivating play with a definite sting in the tail. Please note that this play contains strong language and is not suitable for under-14s. The performance on Thursday, 9 October will be followed by Talkback – your chance to meet the people behind the plays. Host Nick Walker will review the play while the cast return to the stage, and then pose questions submitted by the audience. Talkback is free to ticket holders. Humble Boy is part of the Central Theatre’s Act Now season of top quality touring drama. Customers can take advantage of dramatic price reductions when booking for all three plays in the season, which also includes Oh, What A Lovely War! (20-22 October) and Elsie and Norm’s Macbeth (3-5 November). Tickets for Humble Boy cost £16 and £14. Customers who book for all three plays in the Act Now season pay just £9 per play.
