Jumping jive at the Central Theatre’s Jazz Cellar

Date: 19/09/2008           Category: Arts and Libraries

Cool cats everywhere can look forward to a fun night at The Central Theatre’s Jazz Cellar on Tuesday, 14 October. Kit Packham’s One Jump Ahead show has delighted audiences around the world, showcasing a repertoire of great swing standards, “Rat Pack” numbers, jive, rhythm and blues, classic rock ’n’ roll, sixties soul hits and vintage pop classics. Lead singer and saxophonist Kit Packham writes his own compositions, inspired by the swinging tempos, sizzling sax solos and humour of forties jump/jive star Louis Jordan. While he keeps these on the back burner at private functions to concentrate on well-known “covers”, audiences at the Jazz Cellar can expect to hear some of his critically acclaimed original compositions as well as some wry updated lyrics to jazz standards. The show starts at 8pm, and tickets cost £9, jazz mailing list members and Friends of The Central Theatre £8.
