Let off steam at The Strand

Date: 22/09/2008           Category: Events

The Strand Leisure Park in Gillingham will hold its first ever showcase of steam engines on Saturday, 27 and Sunday, 28 September. Chatham Historic Dockyard Steam Society will showcase items from its extensive collection, including a one traction engine, five steam rollers, a miniature steam lorry, and a 1930s Morris lorry. This is a unique opportunity to see these well-preserved machines dating back to the early 1900s and built by Aveling and Porter - one of the most famous manufacturers of road rollers with important local links. Steam at The Strand will take place from 10am to 5pm on both days and admission is free.
