Date: Saturday, 4 October Time: 10am to 3pm Place: Maple Avenue, Gillingham People living in an area of Gillingham will be pulling on their gloves and wellies to give their neighbourhood a clean next month. An army of volunteers, including residents, ward councillors and Medway Safer Communities Officers will be cleaning up Maple Avenue on Saturday, 4 October. The clean-up takes place from 10am and 3pm. The team will be picking up sweet wrappers, drinks cans and discarded newspapers in an effort to improve the appearance of this residential area in the heart of Gillingham. Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Safety and Enforcement Cllr Rehman Chishti said: “Community clean-up days are a great way for members of the community to come together to improve the area they live and work in. I would encourage all residents to join the clean-up.” Medway Council will provide gloves, litter pickers and refuse sacks for everyone and later in the day arranged for a waste truck to come and collect all of the rubbish.
