With the eyes of the world soon to focus on London and the UK as the 2012 Olympic Games draw nearer, travel and tourism could provide a variety of new career opportunities. For those who want to find out more about how the travel industry works so that they can take advantage of those new opportunities, Medway Adult Education could have just the thing. A 10-week Introduction to Travel and Tourism course being held in November will provide a comprehensive guide to the various aspects of tourism and travel, covering everything from marketing to the way travel operators work to the skills needed to become a tour guide. This evening course, which could be the first step towards a whole new career, costs just £60, or £38.38 for anyone on a state benefit. “This really is an expanding area, and with the Olympics round the corner there will undoubtedly be more opportunities for travel-related jobs,” explained Donna Seal, Medway Council’s Curriculum Manager for Leisure, Travel and Tourism.
