Medway Council is harnessing Olympic-inspired enthusiasm for sport by launching an online guide to Medway’s sports clubs. The new A-Z online directory provides sport-by-sport details of clubs and facilities in Medway, including contact details and links to individual club websites. It features more than 160 individual sports clubs in over 50 sports, ranging from boxing and bowls to water sports and walking, as well as linking to external websites listing the numerous football and netball teams active in Medway. The directory also shows which clubs that have achieved Clubmark accreditation, the national excellence scheme for clubs with junior section. Sports development officer Sarah Dand, who is responsible for club and coach development at Medway Council, said: “Medway is blessed with some excellent clubs in a wide range of sports. “We hope the online directory will open up our clubs and facilities and encourage more people of all ages and abilities in Medway to get involved and get active.” The club directory is located in the Sports Development section of the Medway 2012 website www.medway.gov.uk/london2012 It has been compiled using the most up-to-date information supplied by the clubs. If clubs wish to make any adjustments or you would like to be added, please contact the Sports Development Team on firstname.lastname@example.org Members of the public without access to the internet can request a printed club directory from the Sports Development Team on 01634 338761.
