Helping hands for community projects

Date: 23/10/2008           Category: Young People

Young offenders under the supervision of the Medway Youth Offending Team (YOT) have been busy helping neighbourhoods across Medway achieve community projects. And now they need residents to come forward with more suggestions to keep them busy. Reparative work means young offenders repaying the community in a practical way for the wrong they have caused. Young people aged from 10 to 17 years old, who have been referred to the YOT’s reparation scheme, take part in a rolling programme of work including litter picking, alley clearances, cutting back shrubs, painting over graffiti and repairing benches. The young people are available to work on Saturdays and some weekdays and would be supervised by a member of the YOT team. If you have a community project you would like help with please contact the Reparation Officer Emma Iffie on 01634 336253.
