Back to the beehive era with Dusty tribute

Date: 07/11/2008           Category: Arts and Libraries

Winner of the BBC’s talent search, The One and Only, Katy Setterfield brings her hit Dusty Springfield show to The Central Theatre on Friday, 14 November. Katy has been in love with making music since she was four years old. Learning piano from a very early age, she decided to pursue a career as a musician long before she left school. During her teens regular gigs at folk clubs near to her birthplace, Chalfont St. Giles earned her a reputation for her powerful and mature vocal prowess. Success as Dusty began with immensely popular touring show That’ll Be The Day, which performs more than 200 times a year at venues all over the UK, including The Central Theatre. When Katy was invited to join the show she discovered her uncanny ability to impersonate the legendary vocalist, and would raise the roof every night with renditions of all the Dusty classics. In 2008 Katy entered for the BBC1 show The One and Only, and beat 11 other contestants to the prize - a three-month performing contract in the “Legends” show in Las Vegas. During the TV series, mentors and coaches David and Carrie Grant credited her with the best performance of the entire series and were moved to tears (along with host Graham Norton and most of the studio audience) by her performance of All I see Is you. Medway fans can now see and hear Katy’s amazing recreation of all the Dusty hits, including You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me, Son of a Preacher Man and I Only Want To Be With You. The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £16 and £15. Groups of eight plus and Friends of The Central Theatre receive £2 off top ticket prices.
